Having transplanted to the Northwest decades ago, I was introduced to the infamous slug – GULP!  What is this slimy, gelatinous creature leaving a trail of slime behind?  Don’t dare to pick it up with bare hands or your fingertips will be persistently encased in the stickiest goo. Ick! 

What was God thinking?  Is this part of the perfect world He created?  A creepy, crawly thing like slugs would indicate that God has a sense of humor.  Did He really think we would delight in this creature?  It’s not like the family dog, the lovely horse or a songbird.  It is a slow moving mucous machine.  There may be someone out there who finds these slippery little guys fascinating, but for me, I’m certain it is just a bit of humor to brighten our day. 

Sometimes, it is a good thing to not take life too seriously and realize that laughter IS a characteristic God gave us. Let’s find a creepy crawly thing in life to simply laugh about.
