Week (n) seven days in succession
Weak (adj) lacking strength; lacking social power or commitment
Week, the period of time we travel through to get from Sunday to Saturday, or any seven days in succession. Seven is a perfect number. It is the number of completion. God created the world in six days and on the seventh, He rested. Amen!
A week sounds like a long period of time when you’re looking forward to an event, vacation or adventure with a friend. For a little kid, it’s an eternity! I’m aware of this when my grandson moans and groans about how far away a sleepover is or how far away his birthday is. For adults, those seven days can be gone in a flash and we have no idea what happened to the time. Age changes the amount of “stuff” we need to fit into our weeks and our perception of time. Maybe we need to revisit some of that child-like excitement in anticipating the things to come or the end of the week. Completion!
Do you struggle with the nature of your weeks? If it starts out poorly, do you inevitably feel like you’re stuck in that mode for the remainder of the days? Fortunately, every day is a new beginning! We can leave the funk behind and start fresh. We have 52 weeks each year to get it right; 52 opportunities to make a difference; 52 chances to figure things out!
Are you weak or strong? Weak typically is a negative connotation towards strength of character or brute muscle power. It may be considered demeaning when you don’t sport the biceps; it’s even worse when you don’t demonstrate a backbone. Back during the 1800’s, it was a way of flirting if a woman swooned, or appeared to be weak, ready to faint. Boy, did they have it wrong! Now, a confident, accomplished woman seems to be much more appealing. Strength is admired widely, like boldness and bravery; weakness, not so much. There are moments of weakness beyond our control. Those are the times when we need the strength of our faith, family and friends to carry us through. Weakness is temporary when you have prayerful momentum.
You’re halfway through your week. No weak slip-ups! Flex those muscles and get ready to power through to the glorious weekend!
